WESTMINSTER -- The Kurn Hattin Homes for Children Select Choir, the first Vermont music ensemble to compete on the WGBY Public Television series "Together In Song," will be featured on the season premiere of the third season of "Together in Song" this Saturday at 8 p.m.
"Together in Song" is hosted by Springfield Symphony Orchestra Maestro Kevin Rhodes, and the children from Kurn Hattin Homes will compete with 37 other non-professional children’s and adult choruses from Western New England in 10 categories according to age and musical genre.
Lisa Bianconi, Kurn Hattin’s music director since 1985, said the students taped their segment in early February. "It was an amazing adventure. The children have such talent and poise and have demonstrated that they are ready for a competition. We look forward to the first round."
Based on judges’ scores and audience votes on the show’s website (togetherinsong.wgby.org), the Kurn Hattin Homes for Children’s Select Choir can advance to the series finals, presented live at the Paramount Theater in Springfield, Mass., on April 28.
