BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center announces its spring membership drive, which aims to lift the museum over the 1,000-member threshold for the first time in its history.
By way of special incentive, BMAC is offering all new members who sign up by May 31 an opportunity to win limited-edition prints, signed art books, gift certificates to local restaurants and more. To become a BMAC member, drop by the museum, visit www.brattleboromuseum.org, or call 802-257-0124, ext. 101.
"Members are the lifeblood of any museum," says BMAC Director Danny Lichtenfeld. "Annual membership dues, which start at $40 for individuals, provide us with a major source of unrestricted revenue, which means we can use those funds to cover our day-to-day needs, not just special projects or exhibitions."
In exchange for their support, BMAC members receive free admission to all exhibits, free or reduced admission to events and programs, invitations to preview openings and special members-only gatherings, such as the museum’s "Hidden in the Hills" series, a discount in the museum’s gift shop and more. At the "Friend" level ($150 per year), BMAC members receive free admission and many other reciprocal benefits at more than 500 participating museums throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
"Perhaps most important," Lichtenfeld adds, "BMAC members know they are part of a large and growing community of people who appreciate and support the role of art and artists in our region." That community currently numbers around 825, and BMAC aims to top the 1,000-member mark for the first time in 2013.
Everyone who purchases a membership before May 31 will be entered into a drawing to win a limited-edition giclee print by Tim Allen or Petria Mitchell, valued at $195 each; signed and personally inscribed coffee table books about artists Wolf Kahn or Stephen Hannock, valued at $50 each; gift certificates to Brattleboro’s Whetstone Station Restaurant & Brewery ($50 value) or Elliot Street Cafe ($25 value); and more.
Founded in 1972, the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center presents rotating exhibits of contemporary art, complemented by lectures, artist talks, film screenings, and other public programs. The museum’s exhibits and gift shop are open Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Regular admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and $4 for students. Members and children under 6 are admitted free.
Located in historic Union Station at the intersection of Main Street and Routes 119 and 142, the museum is wheelchair-accessible. For more information call 802-257-0124 or visit www.brattleboromuseum.org.
Major support for BMAC is provided by its members and Entergy Vermont Yankee, Foard Panel, C&S Wholesale Grocers, Sam’s Outdoor Outfitters, People’s United Bank, Brattleboro Ford Subaru and Whetstone Station Restaurant & Brewery.
