BELLOWS FALLS >> Stone Church Arts & Immanuel Retreat Center presents Art as Meditation: An Introduction to Zentangle. Experience art as relaxation, art as meditation. Fun and relaxing, Zentangle helps increase focus and creativity, provides artistic satisfaction and an increased sense of personal well-being and calm. A wonderful practice for both the non-artist and artist alike, if you can write your name, you can create magical art!
Zentangle is art for everyone! Even if you have never drawn a line, you can pick up a pen and make a beautiful piece of art the very first time. Are you convinced you are not "creative, artistic, or talented"? You will be amazed and surprised to see what you can create. Do you already have artistic tendencies? Zentangle is a great creativity 'kickstart' to your work.
Zentangle is a fun, easy to learn and relaxing art form that anyone can do. Create beautiful art with structured patterns. Learn to let go of expectations and be in the moment with pen and pencil.
With Zentangle, anyone can create beautiful images from structured patterns. The steps are easy to learn and easy to do, yet your art will result in your own creative expression that transcends rules.
As you enter a state of quiet relaxation, Zentangle makes a wonderful tool to help you transition into the "zone" of focus. Zentangle can be used as a mindfulness tool to help reduce stress and anxiety, can be helpful for overcoming insomnia, and is equally useful for addiction therapy, anger management, developing/rehabilitating fine motor skills, working through grief, improving eye/hand coordination, increasing attention and span of focus, improving self-esteem and exercising the brain.
Zentangle is easy, portable and fun! If you have a few minutes you can create a small piece of art. All you need is a surface and a 3.5 inch paper tile to create Zentangle. By using small, portable materials you can easily create art in just a short amount of time, just about anywhere.
Making Zentangle is an abstract, yet intentional, process. Learn to release expectations that block being in the moment with your pen and tile. Be prepared to surprise yourself with the results. Anyone can learn Zentangle. No previous art or drawing experience is needed.
This Introduction to Zentangle will be taught by Sadelle Wiltshire, a Veriditas Certified Labyrinth Facilitator, Certified Zentangle® Teacher (CZT) (a meditative drawing method), a fiber, jewelry and mixed media artist from Putney, Vermont. She has taught a wide variety of workshops from New England to Colorado. Sadelle's art work is influenced by her Quaker faith and she enjoys practicing and teaching with a view towards mindfulness, creativity, and all things spiritual.
