BRATTLEBORO >> Hang onto your hats, and be ready to laugh, the Ladies of the Rainbow will be heating up the night with their popular, bawdy drag show at the Brattleboro VFW on Saturday from 8 to 10 p.m., all in the name of raising money for the Windham County Heat Fund.
The Ladies began their shows as a weekly event at the former Rainbow Cattle Company bar in East Dummerston, and now that the bar is closed they continue to do a few shows a year. The heat fund has been lucky to get the Ladies for a second year as a major fundraiser.
Organizers Daryl Pillsbury and Richard Davis find ways to help people struggling to pay for home heating fuel who are not eligible for existing programs, to help them through the winter season. The Heat Fund has no overhead and no administrative expenses. All money used to pay fuel bills is given directly to fuel dealers and deposited into the accounts of people and families receiving donations.
Heating Up The Night with Ladies of the Rainbow drag show will take place at the Brattleboro VFW on Black Mountain Rd., Brattleboro on Saturday. There will be a 50/50 raffle and a cash bar. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 8 p.m. This show is not suitable for children.
Tickets prices are a suggested donation of $20 and may be purchased at Vermont Artisans Design in Brattleboro or reserved by calling Richard Davis at 254-2240 or Daryl Pillsbury at 254-4285 or by e-mail at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
