WEST BRATTLEBORO >> "Stagestruck!" will be presented by the New England Youth Theatre and the Theatre Adventure Thursday Troupe, will be at the West Village Meeting House, 29 South St., West Brattleboro.
A train stops in the fictional Gem City. A Salesman gets off the train carrying a valise. The Newspaper reporter makes sure that the town is abuzz with the news, "Did you hear about the salesman who came to town?" Curiosity grows. Gem City awakens with questions and distrust about the salesman. Everyone is asking, "What is in the valise?" The contents of the salesman's valise sets in motion for the town a transformation replete with mystery, intrigue, conflict, and romance. But wait there is more. Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet plays a part here in the town's eventual makeover. And who would have thought that a salesman coming to town with a valise could have such power and impact on an entire town? Come find out more about what is in that valise and how lives in Gem City are changed as a result on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. and Friday at 7 p.m.
Inspired by the 1957 Broadway musical, "The Music Man," written by Meredith Wilson, the Theatre Adventure Troupe wrote their original production, Stagestruck! in 2012. The 2016 Stagestruck! production has been revised to emphasize the importance of relationships and being open to the unexpected.
