BRATTLEBORO >> To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Union Station, now the home of BMAC, Write Action and SoBo Dance Studio will present an evening of dances set to poetry and music with the theme of trains on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center, 10 Vernon Road, Brattleboro.
Tracy Grissom and TraDANCE Company will perform to "Observations on a Subway" by U-Meleni Mhlaba-Adebo; Cyndal Ellis, Toni Nagy, and Katie Tordonato performing to "Beast" by Arlene Distler; Claire LeMessurier and Bev Miller performing to a poem by Bev Miller, "It's Not The Train;" Cyndal Ellis performing solo to "Downtown" by Joel Kaemmerlen, and an improvised dance to Rolf Parker-Houghton's "Vermonters Seeking Fame In The 1890's."
Performances will be interspersed with short readings of train-themed poems submitted for the event by area poets Elayne Clift, Lynn Martin, Kevin Stine, Audrey Boerum, and T Namaya. Light refreshments will be served.
"Dance for Trains" is an affiliate event of the Brattleboro Literary Festival.
Write Action is a non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen a community of writers in the Brattleboro area; and to encourage, nurture, and promote the literary arts in the at-large community.
SoBo is a community dance center committed to keeping dance accessible, non-competitive, and a vital part of the health and growth of our community.
