BRATTLEBORO -- Lawrence Clifford Bloch and Lisa Jane Clarke were married Sunday afternoon on June 10, 2012, at their home in Brattleboro overlooking the Connecticut River. The dual-faith ceremony was officiated by local Rabbi Bob Rottenberg and Babalawo Joe Platz of Massachusetts.
The bride has worked in Health and Human Services for 15 years and is the Director of Planning and Development at Southeastern Vermont Community Action (SEVCA) in Westminster which provides services and resources to low-income households. She is the daughter of Jane Beresford Clarke of Brattleboro, and the late Edward Charles Clarke of Antrim, N.H. She graduated from Stillpoint School of Massage Therapy and attended Goddard College.
The bridegroom is retired and a long-time entrepreneur best known for his local community involvement with WVEW and BABB, and his former businesses Save the Corporations from Themselves, a Brattleboro natural fiber clothing store, and The Wetlands of Tribeca, N.Y., an activist nightclub featured in a 2006 Dean Budnick documentary film. He is the son of the late Ephraim and Miriam Bloch of Manhattan, N.Y., and attended Washington University in St. Louis.
