Loomis Chaffee School
WINDSOR, Conn. -- Two area students graduated from the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor on June 8.
Katherine Gabriel of Grafton, Vt., was the editor-in-chief of the Confluence Yearbook; an Exhibited Student Artist for drawing, printmaking, and sculpture; a member of the LC Italians and the LC Superfans clubs; and a member of the soccer team. She will matriculate at Bard College.
Sela Wang of Putney, Vt., was awarded the Junior Foreign Language Prize and Mathematics Department Honors. She was a Junior Prefect, Tour Guide, and member of the Arab World Affiliations club, the Chinese club, and the Math team. She was a member of the Girls Varsity Cross Country team, and as a member of the Girls Varsity Swimming/Diving team she was named Academic All-American Champion and received the Most Valuable Swimmer Award.
Wang was the 2011-12 school record holder: 50-meter freestyle; ranked second in New England in the 50-yard freestyle, setting a school record at the New England Championships; finished third overall in 100 meter backstroke, with the second fastest time swum by an LC swimmer; and led off the 400-yard relay with the second fastest time in LC history. She will be taking a Gap Year.
