BHS Class of 1942 held its 70th reunion on June 16. Attending were, front row, left to right, Alma Mankowski, Winona Flood, Louise Pike, Louella Frechette, Berta Swanson, and Lorene Patch. BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro High School Class of 1942 held a memorable 70th reunion luncheon at the Brattleboro Country Club on June 16. From a graduating class of 87 students, there are still 26 living. A total of 13 were present for this occasion. Also present, were two honorary members, Mary Randall and Gladys Miller.

Class members who attended were Ann (McClough) Filion, Luella (Leonard) Frechette, Dorothy Helyar, and Robert Ratti, all of Brattleboro.

Also attending were Constantine Broutsas of Walpole, N.H.; Lawrence Cobb of Melbourne, Fla.; Winona (Rice) Flood of Burlington, N.C.; Alma (Dunklee) Mankowsky of Greenfield, Mass.; Loren (McCallister) Patch of Tewksbury, Mass.; Louise Pike of Chevy Chase, Md.; Leonard Randall of Williamsville; Dorothy (Bates) Stankevich of Reading, and Berta (Johnson) Swanson of Winchester, Mass.

At the 50th reunion of the Class of 1942 they established a scholarship fund in memory of the five young men in the class who died in World War II. The classmates that died in the war were Bruce R. Amidon,

Robert C. Brooks, Ralph O. Duffy, Marvin F. Johnson and Jacob Estey. Scholarships have been given to worthy graduates of Brattleboro Union High School every year since then.

Class members have held reunions every year since its graduation, even during the war years, and had members marching in every Alumni Parade. They are all in constant contact with each other.
