GUILFORD -- Guilford Cares provides services such as food pantry, transportation, medical equipment, nurse and friendly visits. With the help of private donations and the Town of Guilford, many residents have been able to use these services this past summer.
Guilford Cares has reached out to its community this month with its annual appeal. This once a year mailing to Guilford residents has been a significant source of funding, all contributions going directly to helping friends, neighbors and family members.
The board is excited to report that the Guilford Cares Food Pantry has been growing steadily to fill an ever-increasing need. In addition to Thursdays (except the first Thursday of the month) from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Broad Brook Grange, 3490 Guilford Center Road, Guilford Cares collaborated with the Guilford Community Church to deliver lunches to school-aged children during the summer.
Members also had a fun time meeting and greeting friends and neighbors at their booth at the 2012 Guilford Fair. Many people stopped to say how much the services mean to the community.
The Guilford Cares Board meets the second Wednesday of each month at the Guilford Town Offices at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend. This non-profit, volunteer group is actively seeking new board members and volunteers. Contact Leah Gessner at gcares@comcast.net or 802-254-5561 any time.
