Bellows Falls Woman’s Club
BELLOWS FALLS -- The Bellows Falls Woman’s Club meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 9, will feature a box lunch social, beginning at noon, at the United Church of Bellows Falls on School Street. Each person attending should bring a lunch in a creative container of choice, to be raffled off by number. The executive board will provide a choice of soups and beverages to accompany the lunch. Cost of the luncheon is $8.
The meeting’s program will be presented by Annette Spaulding and Patrick Madden, owners of a local tax service business. They will speak on estate planning and will review the tax law.
The club hosted the fall meeting of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Vermont on Sept. 8 then held its first meeting of the club year on Sept. 11. Two new members were welcomed. President Judy Boynton led a discussion of ideas for being prepared for emergencies. She mentioned the tag sale which was held in conjunction with SEVCA’s annual flea market on Sept. 29, and club plans to hold a bake sale at the Walpole, N.H., library’s annual book sale on Oct. 27 and 28. The club has upgraded the plantings it originally provided at the Rockingham Recreation Center, as part of the club’s community service project.
Loyal Order of the Moose
BELLOWS FALLS -- The annual Polish Night and "Pulaski Day Celebration" will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, with dinner at 6 p.m. followed by music from 7 to 10 p.
On the menu will be golumpki, pierogi, kielbasa, sauerkraut and all the fixings. The Eddie Foreman Polish Orchestra will provide music for the dance.
The cost will be $15 per person for just the dinner or for just the dance and $15 per person for both dinner and dance. The evening event, which is for members and qualified guests, will be held at the Bellows Falls Moose Family Center, 59 Henry St., in Bellows Falls. Women of the Moose
BELLOWS FALLS -- The Women of the Moose will hold a Halloween Dance for teens on Friday, Oct. 26, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Moose Family Center, 59 Henry St. There will be treats offered and prizes for best costumes.
Brattleboro Camera Club
BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro Camera Club will meet Monday, Oct. 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church on Route 142 in Vernon. The program will feature traveler and photographer Mark Mikolas who will report on his 17,000 mile journey along South American rivers, including the Parana, the Amazon, and the Orinoco. His expedition took him from Argentina to the Caribbean, from remote jungles to the palaces of the powerful.
In addition, club members will present prints for comments and review.
There is no charge for this program and the public is welcome to attend.
BRATTLEBORO -- Brattleboro AARP Chapter No. 763 will meet Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Brattleboro Senior Center, 207 Main St. in Brattleboro.
The program will be "Social Security and Medicare: What is changing and how will they affect the recipients?" This informative program will be presented by Greg Marchildon, State Director of AARP, and David Reville, State Director of Communications. Safety vests will be available. Members and guests are invited to attend.
