LONDONDERRY, The Londonderry Volunteer Rescue Squad has elected some new officers for 2012/2013. At its annual business meeting in October, squad members elected the following: President, Pete Cobb Jr.; vice president, Claudia Harris; secretary, Marge Fish; treasurer, John Mowry; executive committee member-at-large, Chuck Black; district representative, Pete Cobb Jr.; supply officer, Marge Fish; infection control officer, Wilma Tremarco; captain, Tom Kajah; communications officer, John Wiley Jr.; training officer, Marge Fish; building maintenance officer, Cathy Aragi; MCI officer, Matt Kujovsky; and public relations officer, Nicole Fillion.
At the same meeting, the Rescue Squad awarded the 2012 LVRS Community Service Award to former state representative Oliver Olsen for his service to area towns that were affected by Tropical Storm Irene in August 2011. Olsen worked with local emergency management teams during the event. The Community Service Award recognizes volunteers who make the squad’s service area a better place to live and work.
LVRS also presented Life Saving Awards to 14 squad members who were involved in two separate rescue squad calls in 2012. The Life Saving Award is given to members who made a direct impact on saving a life. The award is rarely given, so presenting it for two calls in the same year is an honor.
In both cases, LVRS was called, first responders and the responding crew stabilized the patient,

LVRS provides emergency services to the towns of Bondville, Jamaica, Landgrove, Londonderry, Peru, South Londonderry, Stratton, Weston, Windham, and Winhall. The all-volunteer service averages between 450 and 500 calls per year and operates two Advanced Life Support ambulances, a heavy-duty technical rescue vehicle with state-of-the-art extrication and rescue equipment, and a Mass Casualty Incident trailer.
