Bellows Falls Woman’s Club
BELLOWS FALLS -- The final meeting of the Bellows Falls Woman’s Club for this club year will be held on Tuesday, May 14, at the United Church of Bellows Falls, beginning at noon. The Executive Board will host a potluck luncheon. Club members are assigned food to bring, based on last name: A-K, a ready to serve hot dish; L-Mc, a salad; Mi-Z, a dessert. The board will provide beverages and rolls.
Guests will be General Federation of Women’s Clubs Vermont President, Midge Tucker, of the Ludlow-Okemo GFWC Club, and Nancy Hobart, South East Director GFWC-VT, member of the South Royalton Woman’s Club. She will install two directors, 2013-2015, for the local club.
Brattleboro Floral Arts & Garden Club
BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro Floral Arts & Garden Club will host a gardening talk on Monday, May 13, at 6 p.m. at the Green Mountain Chapel, 480 Western Ave., in Brattleboro.
Guest speaker will be Julia Miller. Her talk is titled
"Companion Planting & Your Garden Eco-System." The suggested donation is $5. For further information, call 802-257-4710.
Evening Star Grange
DUMMERSTON -- The Evening Star Grange will meet Monday, May 13, at 7 p.m. at the Grange hall in Dummerston Center.
The Home Economics Baking Contest will be held for members to enter their own homemade apple bread. A copy of their recipe must be included with the entry.
The charter will be draped in memory of Kevin Gassett, Richard Putnam, and Gladys Miller, three members of the Grange who have passed away recently.
The Vermont Theatre Company will begin its production of "Deathtrap" at the Grange on Friday, May 17. Members are reminded that they will be selling refreshments and baked goods are needed, as well as helpers to work at the table. The annual Memorial Day Program will be held on Thursday, May 30, with a concert by Brattleboro’s American Legion Band at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7 p.m., once again under the direction of Margaret Evans.
