BRATTLEBORO -- Millard C. Pickering, Grand Exalted Ruler 2013-2014 Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States, and his wife Susanne, visited the Brattleboro Lodge of Elks on Sept. 24. This was one of only two stops in Vermont during his national tour. While traveling to the St. Albans Lodge to meet with Vermont State President Keith Palmer and his suite of state officers, the national leader stopped off in Brattleboro for a luncheon and tour of the historic lodge building.
Pickering, a musician himself, enjoyed learning about the history of the local lodge and of its connection to the Estey family renowned for local pipe and reed organ production.
Pickering is a member of Sapulpa Oklahoma Lodge No. 1118 where he has served many local and state office positions as a Juris Doctorate. He has served as both an Assistant District Attorney, and Assistant Attorney General in Oklahoma. He was appointed as a District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler in 2001-2002 and has continued his active climb to the top national leadership office during the ensuing 12 year period including an eight-year appointment to the Grand Lodge Committee on Judiciary.
