PUTNEY -- Supporters of Putney Cares enjoyed a sunny, mild fall day on Oct. 5 for the annual walk to support activities for elders in Putney. The ongoing need for activities that keep people healthy, active, creative and sharp are very real.
A total of 26 hearty souls (and several dogs), ages 11-83 walked a variety of loops from three miles to one, in town and on the mountain. Students from Putney Central School joined the walk again with bright spirits.
Putney businesses were active in support as well. Green Mountain Orchard provided crisp apples and the Putney Coop provided bread. Basketville, Dosolutions, Green Mountain Spinnery, Hidden Springs Maple, Landmark College, Medicine for the People, Putney Winery, River Valley Credit Union Rod’s Towing and Repairs, and Tom Hayes all donated generously to support the student walkers.
The support is much appreciated, allowing Putney Cares to expand its offerings for Putney’s seniors, including two new programs this fall, Gentle Yoga, and International Folk Dancing.
