BRATTLEBORO -- Taegen Fletcher, a Brattleboro senior, has been named the November 2013 Windham Regional Career Center’s Student of the Month. Taegen was nominated for this award by both Charles Keir, her Emergency Medical Response instructor as well as by Jennifer Connor, her Technical and Professional English 4 teacher.

Taegen is an active Career Center student, having also been enrolled in the center’s Medical Human Services program during her junior year.

Keir shared that Taegen is "a leader in the classroom, excels in the program and motivates other students," all the ingredients you’d hope for in a student.

Connor added, "Taegen is kind and helpful to others, seeing and accepting people for who they are. She is also consistent, thorough and timely in all her (classroom) participation work and assignments."

At this time, Taegen is unsure as to whether she will pursue a health related field in college. At a minimum, though, she sees the value of gaining skills in this area so she might prove helpful if a medical emergency were to arise. Taegen hopes to travel and perhaps pursue studies in Germany at some point after high school.

The Emergency Medical Responder course is new this year at the Career Center. It is an entry-level emergency medical provider course aimed at preparing students for employment or a volunteer position in a variety of pre-hospital, industrial and first responder settings.

The Windham Regional Career Center provides technical and career training for students from the following high schools: Brattleboro, Leland & Gray, Twin Valley, Bellows Falls, Hinsdale, N.H., as well as the Austine School.
