Brattleboro Camera Club
BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro Camera Club will meet Monday, Feb. 10, at 6:30 p.m. at Brooks Memorial Library, 224 Main St.
The main program will be the New England Camera Club Council’s black and white print competition with critical commentary by an expert. The NECCC is an association of regional camera clubs devoted to photographic education.
A second offering will be club member Donald Dill’s discussion of high dynamic range (HDR), a technique for enhancing the impact of prints.
Members will also submit for review prints on the theme "After Sunset." The subject matter varies, but the presentation and evaluation is a regular monthly feature as part of the club’s emphasis on development of skills.
There is no charge for this program and the public is welcome to attend.
BF Woman’s Club
BELLOWS FALLS -- Members of the Bellows Falls Woman’s Club will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at the United Church of Bellows Falls on School Street beginning at 1:30 p.m. Program presenter will be Chris Potter speaking on "Being Prepared -- Life’s Decisions." In honor of Heart Month, members are asked to wear red.
Francis "Dutch" Walsh, Rockingham Development Director, spoke at the Jan. 14 meeting of the club. He highlighted current projects going on in the town and region, emphasizing the need for a well prepared work force to meet the manufacturing sector’s needs. He spoke of his various collaborations with schools and with local and regional development boards in addressing areas of common and critical interest.
Club members donated several boxes of non-perishable food and personal care items for Our Place Drop-in Center. These were delivered to the center following the meeting.
The winter meeting of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Vermont will be held in Rutland today. Local club members plan to attend.
The Bellows Falls Woman’s Club is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC), an international women’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.

BRATTLEBORO -- Brattleboro AARP Chapter No. 763 Hearts and Flowers Valentine Luncheon will be held at the American Legion Hall at 32 Linden St. in Brattleboro on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at noon. The menu will be roast pork with gravy, oven-roasted potatoes, glazed carrots, greens salad, coffee, and apple crisp for dessert. For the vegetarian, there will be vegetarian lasagna.
The cost per person is $7, which includes tax and tip. Reservations must be made before Feb. 15. Mail a check made payable to Brattleboro AARP CH #763 to Bernice Murdock, 166 Morningside Commons, Brattleboro, VT 05301. Indicate number of people and entrée choice on the check.
