BRATTLEBORO -- John F. Angil II of Spofford, N.H., an employee with the Vermont Division of Emergency Management & Homeland Security (DEMHS) in Brattleboro, was recently honored for his efforts in supporting the U.S. Military by receiving the Patriot Award. Angil was also recognized with the Above-and-Beyond Award from the Vermont Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve for the second time in three years.
Angil was nominated for these awards by military spouse and Vermont DEMHS Radiological Emergency Response Program (RERP) staff member Laura Conway, from Erving, Mass., after her husband Shawn returned home from multiple overseas deployments as an Army Reservist.
Angil was nominated to receive both awards in acknowledgement of the regard he demonstrated to the Conway family during recent consecutive tours of duty.
Officials of the Vermont Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) are proud to recognize John F. Angil II as being highly supportive of the National Guard and Reserve members as well as their loved ones.
ESGR believes that supporting the family left behind during a deployment is as critical as supporting the service member, and deserves to be recognized.
Each award was presented by David Wheel, Executive Director of Vermont Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a division within the Department of Defense which provides education and conflict mediation assistance while promoting cooperation between employers and employees serving in the National Guard or Reserves.
In addition, ESGR facilitates meaningful employment opportunities for Guard and Reserve members, military spouses, and other veterans.
