Ian Smith recognized by
the Masonic District 8
Past Master’s Association

TOWNSHEND -- At the meeting of Blazing Star Lodge in Townshend on June 5 members of the District 8 Past Masters Association that include Brattleboro Lodge, Blazing Star Lodge, Mt. Lebanon Lodge of Jamaica, Social Lodge of Wilmington, and Unity Lodge of Jacksonville, presented a special recognition to Ian Smith.

Smith was recognized for his many years as editor of the District 8 monthly Trestleboard newsletter that was sent to members of the Freemasons and other Masonic Bodies including the Order of the Eastern Star.

Smith is a Past Master of Brattleboro Lodge, and a Past District Deputy Grand Master for District 8. He is also a member of the Valley of Southern Vermont Scottish Rite Masons.

Robert Fagge recognized by
Council of Deliberation of
Vt. Scottish Rite Freemasons

MONTPELIER -- At a meeting on June 14 of the Vermont Council of Deliberation at Aurora Lodge in Montpelier, Robert Fagge was recognized with the Meritorious Service Award.

Fagge is presently the Senior Warden at Social Lodge in Wilmington. He is a past Thrice Potent Master of the Valley of Southern Vermont. He resides in East Dover with his wife Gretchen and is the principle for Robert Fagge Associates investment advisors representing Wilbanks Securities.

As a Freemason he was the founding member of Warm Hands/Warm Hearts Foundation that provide winter clothing for low income children.

While Thrice Potent Master of the Valley of Southern Vermont he worked diligently to improve the programming of the Valley, both internally and in the community, to enhance the value of belonging to Scottish Rite, as well as attracting more members to the order.

Richard Omand recognized
by the Masonic District 8
Past Master’s Association

TOWNSHEND -- At the meeting of Blazing Star Lodge in Townshend on June 5 members of the District 8 Past Masters Association that include Brattleboro Lodge, Blazing Star Lodge, Mt. Lebanon Lodge of Jamaica, Social Lodge of Wilmington, and Unity Lodge of Jacksonville, presented a special recognition to Richard Omand.

Omand’s recognition was for serving four non-consecutive years as District Deputy Grand Master of District 8 and presented to him by incoming District Deputy Grand Master, Robert Baldauf of the Brattleboro Lodge.

Omand is a Past Master of Blazing Star Lodge and is also a member of the Valley of Southern Vermont Scottish Rite Masons. He is a past recipient of the District 8 Masonic Community Citizen of the year award. He is also a retired Army officer of 30 years, has taught and coached at Leland & Gray Union High School and is an active officer of the American Legion.

Neil Pelsue recognized by Valley of Southern Vermont
Scottish Rite Freemasons

TOWNSHEND -- On June 5 at the Meeting of the Blazing Star Lodge in Townshend, Thrice Potent Master, Steve Farrington representing the Valley of Southern Vermont Scottish Rite Freemasons, presented Neil Pelsue a Past Master’s award for his outstanding services to Freemasonry.

The recognition was for serving as a Master of Blazing Star Lodge in Townshend and also serving as a Master of Mt. Lebanon Lodge in Jamaica. He helped that lodge to reorganize itself and activate its existing members. Pelsue’s father was a Past Master of Mt. Lebanon Lodge. He is the son-in-law of the late Dr. Carlos Otis who founded Grace Cottage Hospital. Dr. Otis was also a very active Freemason, serving as Master of Blazing Star Lodge and served as Grand Senior Deacon for District 8.

Pelsue is also a member of the Valley of Southern Vermont Scottish Rite Masons. He is a past recipient of the District 8 Masonic Community Citizen of the Year award. He is also a retired professor at the University of Vermont and has served on several boards in West River Valley, including the Board of Directors of Grace Cottage Hospital.
