BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro Branch, American Association of University Women (AAUW), will be holding its annual book sale on Sept. 4-6 at Centre Congregational Church, 193 Main St., Brattleboro. The book sale, a feature of the Brattleboro summer season, attracts dealers and buyers from all over New England. This year, the book sale hours are Thursday, Sept. 4, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, Sept. 5, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, Sept. 6, from 9 a.m. to noon.
All money raised will fund college scholarships for local girls and women. This year, three $1,000 scholarships were given to new high school graduates and one $1,000 scholarship was given to a mature woman continuing her education. The community supports this scholarship program by donating and buying books.
A public book drop off, where fiction and nonfiction books in good condition will be accepted, will be at Centre Congregational Church, 190 Main St., on the north side door (under the fire escape) on three different dates: Wednesday, Aug. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 30, from 9 a.m. to noon; and Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon.
