Castleton State College

CASTLETON -- Grant Lawrence has been appointed as a Student Association Senator at Castleton State College.

Lawrence is from Brattleboro and is majoring in forensic psychology and political science.

Lyndon State College

LYNDON CENTER -- Jenny Bartlett of Jacksonville was honored during the Rising Student Awards Ceremony at Lyndon State College on March 26.

Bartlett, the daughter of Douglas W. and Toni Lee Bartlett, also of Jacksonville, received the Faculty/Staff Scholarship and the LSC Foundation Vermont Scholarship.

Bartlett is majoring in recreation resource and ski resort management, an adventure-based program at Lyndon State.

Johnson & Wales University

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The following local Vermont students of Johnson & Wales University have been named to the dean's list for the 2008 winter term:

-- Sarah Weatherhead of Guilford, who is pursuing an associate degree in advertising/communications from the College of Business at the Denver campus.

-- Michael Tevolini of Vernon, who is pursuing an associate degree in management from the College of Business at the Providence campus.

Castleton State College

CASTLETON -- Rosie Williams has been appointed to the Student Orientation Staff at Castleton State College. She is a freshman from Newfane, and a geology major.

Saint Joseph College

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Melissa Smith of Hinsdale, N.H., received the Sr. Mary Consuela Mulcahy Founders' Award in Biology at the annual awards ceremony at Saint Joseph College on April 22.

UMass-Amherst

AMHERST, Mass.-- Julia Sorenson of Vernon, Vt. has been named to Beta Gamma Sigma at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Sorenson is a graduate student studying business administration at the Isenberg School of Management. She also has a master of social work from Smith College, where she was nominated for the Eleanor Clark thesis prize. She received a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Chicago.

Currently, she is the director of marketing and communications at the Brattleboro (Vt.) Retreat.

Arcadia University

GLENSIDE, Pa. -- Jessica Pedigo of Putney, Vt., earned a spot on the distinguished dean's list at Arcadia University during the fall and spring 2007 semester.
