BRATTLEBORO -- Naw Ruz, the Baha’i New Year, coincides with the first day of spring on Sunday, March 21. Naw Ruz is one of nine Baha’i Holy Days on which work is suspended. Other Holy Days include the Declaration of Baha’u’llah, Prophet-Founder of the Baha’i Faith and The Bab, Prophet-Herald of the Baha’i Faith, their birthdays and ascensions.
This Holy Day marks the end of the annual 19-day fasting period during the last month of the Baha’i year. This is the beginning of the 167th year of the Baha’i calendar which began in Persia with the Declaration of the Bab, on May 23, 1844.
