Brattleboro Camera Club

BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro Camera Club will meet Monday, Sept. 10, at 6:30 p.m. at Brooks Memorial Library, 224 Main St. The program will feature photographer Chris Petrak who chronicles the return of life to the Rock River after Tropical Storm Irene scoured the river valley in August 2011. His camera captures birds tending their fledglings, feeding on seed stalks, and fishing in the river. Nearby, bees and butterflies drink nectar and gather pollen in the garden.

For the simple pleasure of viewing and for instructive suggestions, club members will present pictures for comments.

There is no charge for this program and the public is welcome to attend.

Daughters of Isabella

BRATTLEBORO -- The Daughters of Isabella Ave Maria Circle No. 128 met Aug. 14 in Rand Hall at St. Michael’s School on Walnut Street. Regent Rebecca Koski presided over the meeting. She and Gail Stankiewicz attended the International Convention in August in Dearborn, Mich.

A blueberry supper will be on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Rand Hall. Members of the community are welcome. The prices will be $9 for adults and $4 for children.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 11, in Rand Hall.

Daughters of Isabella is a service organization open to Catholic women over the age of 18. Membership information is available at 802-257-1393.

Woman’s Club

BELLOWS FALLS -- The Bellows Falls Woman’s Club will begin its 2012-2013 club year with a meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the United Church of Bellows Falls, School Street, beginning at 1:30 p.m. The program will be presented by a representative of Vermont Emergency Management, a division of the Department of Public Safety. Annual club dues will be received. The club program book will be available upon payment of dues.

The club will host the fall meeting of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Vermont (GFWC-VT) at the United Church on Sept. 8.

On Sept. 29, the club will sponsor a tag sale in conjunction with the annual SEVCA flea market. Club members and others should contact Sally McGaffigan at 603-445-2527 or Betty Haggerty at 802-463-4159 for pick up of donations to this fundraiser. Proceeds will benefit the club’s community outreach projects.

Club members can look forward to a year with interesting and varied programs, camaraderie, and helping the wider area through projects, volunteerism, and donations, all in the name of community betterment. Sons of the American Legion

BRATTLEBORO -- The Sons of the American Legion Squadron No. 5 of Brattleboro will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 11, beginning at 7 p.m.

Members are reminded that their 2013 dues are now payable. Dues for senior members, those 17 and over, are $25. If they are paid before Oct. 8, the dues will be $20 saving the senior member $5. Juniors, those under 17, and dual members dues are $10. All dues may be sent to: SAL Squadron No. 5, 32 Linden St., Brattleboro, VT 05301, or they can be left at the Post.

American Legion Auxiliary

BRATTLEBORO -- American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 5 of Brattleboro will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 13, beginning at 7 p.m.

Members are reminded that their 2013 dues are now payable. Senior dues are $22 and may be sent to American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 5, 32 Linden St., Brattleboro, VT 05301.

All members are urged to attend.

AARP

BRATTLEBORO -- The AARP picnic will be held at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Senior Picnic Area, first level of Living Memorial Park. Ken and Cal Heile will entertain with songs.

Those attending are asked to bring a main dish, salad or dessert to share plus their own plate and silverware. Beverages will be provided. Members and guests are welcome.
