NEWFANE -- The First Congregational Church of Newfane will meet on Sunday, Sept. 16, when the Rev. Robert Hamm’s sermon will be "The Paradox of Self-Denial" with scripture from the gospel of Mark, chapter 8 verses 27-38.

Congregational hymns are "Praise the Lord, O Heavens, Adore Him," "O Jesus, I Have Promised," and "Jesus Calls Us O’er the Tumult." Guest organist Bill McKim will play the prelude and anthem and accompany the choir for their anthem "Jesus, the Thought of You."

Activities for the week include Al-Anon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday; Linus Quilters at 1 p.m. and Sew What’s at 5 p.m. on Tuesday; Heritage Festival pie-making at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday; Ladies Aid meeting at 9:30 a.m.; Handbell rehearsal at 5:15 p.m. and Vocal Choir rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
