DUMMERSTON -- Worship at the Dummerston Congregational Church UCC in Dummerston Center begins at 9:30 a.m. The Scripture this Sunday, Sept. 16, is Mark 7: 1-13 and James 3: 2-12. The sermon will be " What Defiles?" The Children’s story will focus on I Samuel 17, David and Goliath. Children begin in worship and go to an open classroom. After worship, an old Apple Pie video will be shown, along with a re-showing of the video by Theresa Maggio of the Apple Pie Festival and Preparation in 2011.
Each Wednesday there is a contemplative prayer service in the candlelit sanctuary from 6 to 7 p.m. for shared silence.
The church continues to collect food, personal care items and household goods for the Drop-In Center. Church World Service School bags are being filled; the Dummerston Women’s Association provides the school bags and each bag is filled. These bags go to disaster and refugee areas to help children begin to return to normal in the midst of chaos.
Apple pie making begins Monday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to noon and 6 to 9 p.m. Come visit with neighbors as while working.
