BRATTLEBORO -- All are invited to participate in the St. Francis Day Blessing of the Animals on the Brattleboro Common on Thursday, Oct. 4, at 5 p.m. This brief service of song, prayer and blessing will be led by the Rev. Mary Lindquist, Rector of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. The program is held in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creation and in celebration of the love between people and their pets. Musician Paul Dedell will accompany the service with guitar.

Everyone and all their animals are invited. Dogs, cats, horses, lizards, pigs, horses, gerbils -- and even stuffed animals -- are welcome.
