BRATTLEBORO -- The Rev. Carra McFadden of Centre Congregational Church in downtown Brattleboro will lead worship at 10 a.m. on Oct. 7 celebrating World Communion Sunday. Her sermon title is "You Are the Body of Christ" for A Message for All Ages. The sanctuary will be decorated with flags from around the world, centrally featuring the El Salvador flag, a symbol of the sister parish partnership with Iglesia de Cristo Redentor in a neighborhood outside the city of San Salvador.
The children will be part of worship as the first Sunday of the month is intergenerational worship time together. Nursery care is available for infants and preschool children.
Jon Potter will introduce the congregation’s stewardship campaign, "Extravagant Generosity: Delight in Giving." The communion liturgy, "The Great Thanksgiving," will be sung by the pastor and congregation. All are welcome at the table and fellowship hour will follow.
World Communion Sunday will be observed in which the international activities of the world-wide churches will be celebrated. All are welcome.
The El Salvador group will meet from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday to plan for the February trip to its sister parish in San Salvador.
