NEWFANE -- The Rev. Dr. Chris Petrak will be the guest pastor at the First Congregational Church of Newfane at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14. The title of his sermon is "Spiritual Termites" with scripture from the book of Romans, chapter 8, verses 1-8. Communion will also be observed at this service.

Music will include congregational hymns "Great is the Lord," "Come, Let Us Eat" and "Take Thou Our Minds, Dear Lord." The choir will sing "Around His Table" by Judy Hunnicutt as the offertory anthem with the prelude, "The Serene Heart" by Ellen Jane Lorenz, and the postlude, "Jubilate Deo" by Roy E. Nolte, both played by organist/music director Martha LaMoria.

Upcoming events for the week include Al-Anon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday; Linus Quilters at 1 p.m. and Sew What’s at 5 p.m. on Tuesday; Handbell rehearsal at 5:15 p.m. and Trustees meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday; Ladies Aid meeting at 10 a.m. and Choir Rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Deadline for the November issue of The Steeple is Friday, Oct. 19. On Sunday, Oct. 21, the Rev. Mary Hawkes will be the guest pastor.
