WEST BRATTLEBORO -- Oct. 21 is Stewardship Sunday at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 880 Western Ave. in West Brattleboro. Financial pledges for 2013 will be received and dedicated. In addition two new members will be received.

The Rev. Joe Amico continues with his sermon series on the Old Testament Book of Job. The sermon is "Man Up!" based on Job 38:1-7, (34-41).

Organist/Choir Director George Soulos will play the church’s 111-year-old tracker pipe organ. The prelude will be "Bagatelle, op. 119, no. 5" by Beethoven and postlude will be "Sonatina no. 1-Allegro Brillante" by Mozart.

The senior choir will sing "Do What He Wants You to Do" by Gilbert Martin for the offertory anthem. Congregational hymns will be "All Things Bright and Beautiful," "God, Who Stretched the Spangled Heavens" and "My God, I Thank Thee, Who Hast Made." Worshipers will also sing a Benediction Response, "He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands." Guitarist Jeff Brewer will play gathering music.

Extensive renovation work has recently been completed on the church’s 15-rank tracker pipe organ, built in 1901 by J.W. Steere and Company. Lawrence Nevin restored the complete (internal and external) leather pneumatics and tubing on each note. This work was paid for by the church’s Memorial Gifts Fund.

The church’s annual meeting will be held following worship on Sunday, Nov. 4. The agenda will

include election, reports from officers and committees, voting on the proposed budget for 2013, and any other business that can legally come before the membership.

Sunday worship at First Congregational Church is at 10 a.m. There is Sunday School during the worship hour for pre-school through grade 6, and child care for younger children. Following worship there is a Fellowship Hour in the Fireplace Room.
