GUILFORD -- This Sunday at the Guilford Community Church, U.C.C., especially invites visitors to attend as the work of Alcoholics Anonymous is celebrated.

In a service dedicated to recovery, Pastor Lise Sparrow will lead the service at 10 a.m. and welcome a guest speaker with over 30 years of sobriety. The guest has worked in the field of counseling and will tell her own story.

The choir will offer three anthems, "Day by Day," "Guide my Feet," and "Standing in the Need of Prayer." Favorite hymns, "Here I Am, Lord, "Amazing Grace," and "God Beyond All Names" will also be sung to help celebrate the message of restoration.

The scripture for the day comes from Job 38 and God’s message to a suffering Job from midst the whirlwind and from Mark, in which Jesus emphasizes the importance of service to God above all. The children will learn the story of God’s call to Samuel.

Guilford Community Church is an Open and Affirming Congregation of the United Church of Christ. Sunday School is provided for children through grade 8.

The church is fully handicapped accessible and an ASL interpreter and hearing assistance is provided for the hearing impaired. The church is located one mile south of exit 1 of Interstate 91, on Route 5 just in back of the Guilford Country Store.
