BRATTLEBORO -- The Vermont Insight Meditation Center will present the weekly course "The Mindful Way to Self-Compassion" in Brattleboro and Bellows Falls this November and December.

Teacher Cheryl Wilfong will explore how mindfulness enables people to disengage from distressing moods and negative thoughts and increase their self-compassion and life satisfaction using Christopher Germer’s book "The Mindful Path to Self-Compassion."

"We can apply mindfulness to the low energy blahs that sometimes visit us when the days become short," Wilfong says. "As the light wanes and dark thoughts and moods intrude, we will share coping strategies."

Classes will run in Brattleboro on five Tuesdays from Nov. 13 to Dec. 18 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Solar Hill Neighbors’ Hall on 229 Western Ave.

The same course will be offered in Bellows Falls on six Wednesdays from Nov. 7 to Dec. 19 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Sprockets Cycling Studio on The Square.
