DUMMERSTON -- The Dummerston Church, along with the Evening Star Grange and Dummerston Cares, will host a dinner tonight from 5 to 7 at the Evening Star Grange in Dummerston Center to raise funds for the Dummerston Fuel Assistance Fund. Costs are $10, $5 for children 5-12. The menu will be ham, hot dogs, baked beans, scalloped potatoes, coleslaw, corn pudding, rolls, ice cream and fudge sauce, and chocolate chip cookies. Take-outs are available.

Money raised will be used to help Dummerston residents with heating costs. Applications for assistance for Dummerston residents may be made through the town office or the Dummerston Cares Hotline at 802-257-5800.

On Friday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. the church will host a guitar concert by Peter Griggs. The concert, "500 Years of Music for Guitar," explores the music of the classical guitar from the Renaissance to the Contemporary. Griggs will also discuss the evolution of the instrument from its origins in medieval Spain to its worldwide popularity in the 21st century. A reception will follow. Freewill offering for musician is asked.

On Reformation Sunday, Oct. 28, prairies and hymns by Martin Luther and John Calvin will be part of the worship service. Lilliana Lee Calcasola will be baptized. Blankets made by the church school for Rescue and the Drop-In Center will be dedicated, along with any prayer shawls ready to be blessed. The children’s story is from II Samuel 6, A Tent for the Ark. Children begin in worship and go to an open classroom.

Sunday, Nov. 4, will be an All Saints Day Service when those who have died in the year past will be remembered. To add a name to the prayer list, contact the pastor.
