WEST BRATTLEBORO -- Oct. 28 is Reformation Sunday and Hymn Sing Sunday at 10 a.m. at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 880 Western Ave. in West Brattleboro. Congregational hymns will include "Dear Lord and Father of Mankind," "Jesus Loves Me," "Bringing in the Sheaves," and "God Be With You." During sermon time, worshipers will be given the opportunity to request favorite hymns from the church’s two hymnals. The responsive reading will be "Count Your Blessings."
Organist/Choir Director George Soulos will play the church’s newly-renovated 111-year-old tracker pipe organ. The prelude will be "Berceuse" from Jocelyn by Benjamin Godard and the postlude "The Lost Chord" by Sir Arthur Sullivan. The senior choir will sing "Reach Out and Touch" by Charles Brown. Guitarist Jeff Brewer will play gathering music
The church’s annual meeting will be held following worship on Sunday, Nov. 4. The agenda will include election and reports from officers and committees, voting on the proposed budget for 2013, and any other business.
