MARLBORO -- The Marlboro Meeting House will conduct a Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols Sunday, Dec. 23, at 4 p.m. led by Heidi Carrington Heath, a seminarian at Andover Newton Theological School.

The story of the birth of Jesus will be told through scripture readings and carols. Organists Fred Gray and Alan Dann will play the Christmas carols. Jim Levinson will play the organ and lead the Marlboro Singers.

The culmination of the program will be the dimming of lights as candles burn and everyone sings "Silent Night, Holy Night."

During the program, ushers will take an offering to benefit Heifer International and The Gathering Place. Heifer International is a non-profit organization whose goal is to help world hunger and poverty through self-reliance and sustainability. The Gathering Place in Brattleboro provides and advocates for adult day and community-based services for elders and adults with disabilities.

A chair lift to the sanctuary is available. Fellowship and refreshments will follow the service. Those who desire may bring treats to share and enjoy with the coffee.

The Marlboro Meeting House is located on South Road in Marlboro, a half mile from Route 9. It is the fourth oldest church in Vermont in continuous operation.
