DUMMERSTON -- Worship at the Dummerston Congregational Church this Sunday begins at 9:30 a.m. Children will remain upstairs with their families for this child-friendly service.

The meditation is the Children’s Story, based on "Where Love is There is God" by Leo Tolstoy. The Advent candles will be lit by Silas, Macie, Heather and Ryan Golding. Guest musicians Margaret and Timothy Fogg, with flute and guitar, will lead us in some folk carols, including "Star Child," "’Twas in the Moon of Wintertime," and "Who Would Think that What Was Needed." They will play "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" and "One Holy Night in Bethlehem" by Mary Nelson Keithahn and John D. Horman. Their offertory anthem will be "Isn’t He" by John Wimber.

The Outdoor Pageant Sunday at 6 p.m. will be led by the Youth Group, returning young adults and children in 5th grade and older, as we follow then from setting to setting to enter into the Nativity Story. All are invited.

Dress warmly, and stay for cookies, cocoa and a visit from Santa. Youth participants should come at 3 p.m. for practice and pizza. walk-ons welcome.

Christmas Eve services are at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The early service, especially suited for young children, is a simple service of scripture, carols and candlelight. The 7 p.m. service of scripture, carols and candlelight includes a story by Mark Brown and music by the choir under the direction of the Rev. Dr. Larrimore Crockett. The Christmas Eve offering will go to the Drop-In Center.

Because the church is on the top of a mountain, worship and programs are cancelled when driving is treacherous. If worship is canceled, all events for that day are cancelled.
