WEST BRATTLEBORO -- Jan. 6 is Epiphany of the Lord Sunday at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 880 Western Ave. in West Brattleboro. The Rev. Joseph Amico’s sermon will be "Star Search," based on Matthew 2:1-12, the story of the Three Wisemen.
Holy Communion will be served. Organist/Choir Director William McKim will play the church’s 111-year-old tracker pipe organ. The prelude will be "Overture to Christmas" by Lindbergh and postlude "Sonata in E" by Scarlatti. The choir’s offertory anthem will be "Love Came Down at Christmas" by Carter.
Congregational hymns will include "We Three Kings of Orient Are," "As With Gladness Men of Old" and "Arise, Your Light is Come." Guitarist Jeff Brewer will play Gathering Music.
The monthly pancake breakfast will be on Jan. 13 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, muffins, breakfast casseroles, scrambled eggs, fruit, orange juice, and other beverages. This is free and open to the public, no reservations are necessary.
Sunday worship at First Congregational is at 10 a.m. with Sunday School during the worship hour for pre-school through grade 6, and child care for younger children. Following worship there is a Fellowship Hour in the Fireplace Room.
