BRATTLEBORO -- Christian Huebner, organist and Director of Music at Centre Congregational Church in downtown Brattleboro, will lead worship at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13. His sermon topic on the first Sunday after Epiphany is "The Baptism of Christ" based on the text from Acts 8 and Luke 3.
Huebner began his ministry of music at Centre Church on July 1, 2009, leading the adult choir and assisting with children’s worship in the chapel.
He began studying organ at age 5 and became organist at his church in Chester at age 11. He earned a double master’s degree in organ performance and choral direction from Binghamton University.
The special offering for January will support the Luz del Mundo Scholarship for children who attend the church’s El Salvador sister parish. The choir and the music committee is hosting Fellowship Hour in the parlor after the service. All are welcome.
Centre Church will host the Overflow Shelter evening meal at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27, at the First Baptist Church, 190 Main St. Warm clothing is being collected in boxes inside the back entrance to the church. Loaves and Fishes hot meals are served Tuesdays and Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall. The community’s annual Martin Luther King Day will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, at Centre Church, preceded by a spaghetti dinner at 5:30 p.m.
