WESTMINSTER WEST -- The Congregational Church of Westminster West will welcome special guest musician Eugene Uman, who will share his music on Sunday, Feb. 3, during the regular 10 a.m. worship service.
Uman, the artistic director of the Vermont Jazz Center in Brattleboro, as well as a prolific composer and teacher/professor of jazz, has an ongoing relationship with the congregation, where he plays a couple of times a year. Uman and Bill Ballard (alto saxophone) will collaborate on the prelude, "Lucky Southern" by Keith Jarrett, and will perform "Dolphin Dance" by Herbie Hancock as the postlude. Under Ballard’s direction the church choir will join Uman on "Now" by Bobby Hutcherson as the morning’s anthem.
Sunday’s service will also feature congregational singing accompanied by organist Margit Lilly, and a sermon preached by the Rev. Susie Webster-Toleno. Holy Communion will be shared with all who wish to receive it, and the service will be followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments.
The Congregational Church of Westminster West is a member of the United Church of Christ. The church building is fully accessible, and large-print bulletins are available. The congregation is Open and Affirming and warmly welcomes both members and visitors alike. For further information, contact Rev. Webster-Toleno at 802-579-8356.
