BRATTLEBORO -- Worship on Sunday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church will focus on the story of Jesus slipping through an angry crowd unnoticed. Scripture for the service is found in Luke 4:21-30 and will be read by Jane Clarke.

Pastor Cheryl Meachen’s sermon will be "Moves Like Jedi" and will examine "Jesus’ reception in his hometown, the crowd’s anger that he would not perform miracles for them and the ways in which we receive and notice his presence in our lives whether or not we experience healing."

Holy Communion will be celebrated and the baptism of Dominic James Garceau, son of Daniel and Kaleigh Garceau, will take place. Dominic is the grandson of Lori and Dennis Johnson, Jim and Gloria Pinkerton, Mitch and Donna Durocher, and great-grandson of the late Marilyn Bash.

Betty Stacy will share a mission moment describing the church’s Visitation and Prayer Team Ministry and canned goods and cash will be received for Souper Bowl of Caring Sunday to benefit the food pantry and Kids Care Meals.
