DUMMERSTON -- Worship at Dummerston Congregational Church this week begins a sermon series on the Seven Last Words of Jesus from the Cross. This week the scripture is Luke 23:32-28 and the sermon is "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." The Children’s Story focuses on The Lord’s Prayer. Children will be learning and learning about the prayer through Lent. The children continue to learn about a mission to a Kenya AIDS orphanage.
The Pancake Supper and Games Night scheduled for Feb. 8 was postponed to Feb. 15 because of the weather. Come and support the youth group and enjoy a fun evening with your neighbors. A "Vendredi Gras" Supper of high-protein pancakes will be hosted by the Youth Group, donations gratefully accepted. Come in Mardi Gras costume if you’d like and stay for games and puzzles. All are welcome.
Non-perishable foods, toiletries, household item, blankets, tents and tarps for the Drop-In Center may be left in the church entry. A "Dove Board" with needed items for those living with HIV/AIDS is in the church entry. Items may be returned to the "Dove Basket.
A Contemplative Prayer Service is held in the sanctuary each Wednesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. Dress warmly and join us for a time of shared silence and deep peace.
Worship is at 10 a.m. The church is located in Dummerston Center, 1536 Middle Road, Dummerston. Dummerston Congregational Church UCC is a Green Justice Congregation of The United Church of Christ. Because the church is on the top of a mountain, worship and programs are cancelled when driving is treacherous. If worship is cancelled, all events for that day are cancelled.
