BRATTLEBORO -- The team of five adults and five youth who visited El Salvador on a mission trip this past week have returned to Centre Congregational Church in downtown Brattleboro. The Rev. Carra McFadden, who was part of the group, will lead the 10 a.m. worship Sunday, Feb. 24, the Second Sunday of Lent. She will preach on "Facing Our Fears," based on the text from Isaiah 41:10. The overall Lenten Sermon Series is "Facing the Cross." This month’s special offering supports the Overflow Shelter and the Drop-In Center.
Sunday evening is Centre Church’s turn to participate in the evening meal at the Overflow Shelter, across the street at First Baptist Church, 190 Main St. Those wishing to help may contact Jill Harnish, 802-257-5244.
The film "In Debt We Trust" will be shown in the parlor from noon to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26. A potluck lunch will be included and discussion will follow the film. This film showcases the impact of debt on young people and our society and tells how to avoid the traps of debt dependency. The sponsors are the Peace and Justice Committee and all are welcome.
Wednesday evening Bible Study will be held at 7 p.m. at the home of Gisela Robeck in West Brattleboro. The new Quilting Club is held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursdays and all are welcome. For information, contact Anne Doesburg, 802-254-5495.
