WEST BRATTLEBORO -- All Souls Church Unitarian Universalist invites all to worship Sunday, March 3, at 10 a.m. when the topic will be "A Time to Let Go and Let It Be." In Ecclesiastes it says "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven ... a time to keep, and a time to throw away" and Paul McCartney sings words of wisdom in his song, "Let It Be." This Sunday, All Souls’ minister, the Rev. Barbro Hansson, will reflect on how one can know when to hold on and when it is time for letting go, or to let it be.
The All Souls Adult Choir, under the direction of Ede Thomas, will sing Pete Seeger’s "Turn! Turn! Turn! To Everything There Is a Season." Also, Daniel Kasnitz will sing "Let It Be" by Paul McCartney. Mary Oliver’s poem "In Blackwater Woods" complements the homily, as does a beautiful excerpt from Joyce Rupp’s book, "Walk in a Relaxed Manner: Life Lessons from the Camino," where she writes specifically about the challenge of letting go. The story for All Ages, "The Forever Trap," comes from Wayfarer Tomm and tells about a conversation between a wise owl and a somewhat greedy and bewildered monkey.
This Sunday the children will begin sugaring in the All Souls Church woods. Church members Steve and Kathy Squires have been sugaring for many moons and will share their experience and help the children find a tree to tap in the church sugar bush. The church woods boasts many beautiful sugar maples and the sap is running already. Those participating should dress accordingly with hat, mittens, warm coat, snow pants and snow boots or waterproof shoes.
Nursery care will be provided. Contact Llora Kressmann, acting director of Religious Education, for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org.
