DUMMERSTON -- Worship at Dummerston Congregational Church on Sunday, March 10, at 10 a.m. will continue with the sermon series on the Seven Last Words of Jesus from the Cross. The scripture lesson will be from Matthew 27: 27-54 and the sermon will be "My God, My God, Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me?" Cathy Martin will be the guest organist. The children continue a Lenten series on The Parables of Jesus. This week the story is the Parable of the Lost Sheep from Luke 15: 1-7.
There will be an afterschool program for preschoolers through grade 5 on Thursdays, March 14 and 21, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Children may take the bus directly from school with a note to the teacher. On March 14, the children will learn about Passover and its relationship to Communion. In story, art, play and song they will learn the events of Holy Week and prepare for worship on Palm Sunday and Easter.
The church is filling hygiene kits for Church World Service. The Dummerston Women’s Association provides the towel, wash cloth and Band-Aids. Others are asked to provide for each bag: one wide-tooth comb, one nail clipper, one bath-size bar of soap in wrapper, one toothbrush in original packaging and $2 per kit for processing. In the face of natural disasters, violence, or grinding poverty hygiene kits can mean the difference between sickness and health for struggling families.
There will be a Taizé service on Sunday, March 17, at 5 p.
The church is located in Dummerston Center at 1536 Middle Road. If worship is canceled, all events for that day are canceled, visit www.WTSA.net or www.WKVT.com. For more information contact Pastor Susanna Griefen, 802-257-0544, email@example.com.
