WEST BRATTLEBORO -- April 7 is the Second Sunday of Easter at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 880 Western Ave. in West Brattleboro. The Rev. Joseph Amico’s sermon will be "Seeing Is Believing, but better yetÅ " based on John 20:19-31.

The West B Belles directed by Alice McClellan will present a prelude medley of "Songs of the Spirit," "Spirit of God, Descend Upon My Heart," "Breathe on Me Breath of God," and "Jesus the Very Thought of Thee" by S. Rogers. They will also play an offertory anthem of "Christ the Lord is Risen Today" by Kinyon and the benediction response hymn tune of "Fairest Lord Jesus."

Organist William McKim will share a postlude of "Alicia Grandissima" Barbarosa. Congregational hymns this week are "We Live by Faith and Not by Sight," "Jesus, Sovereign, Savior," and "Savior, Again to Thy Dear Name." Guitarist Jeff Brewer will play gathering music along with the Easter Brass.

Sunday worship at First Congregational Church is at 10 a.m. During the worship hour, there is Sunday School for pre-school through grade 6, and child care for younger children.

Following worship there is a coffee hour in celebration of Alice McClellan’s retirement after 35 years of service to the church as administrative assistant.

Canned fruits and vegetables, pasta and sauces, peanut butter, tuna fish, and cereals are being collected for the Drop-In Center’s Food Shelf as well as items for the Church World Service’s Hygiene Kits and School Kits.

Events include the Prayer Fellowship at 8:30 a.m. and Senior Choir rehearsals at 9 a.m. on Sunday mornings and the Handicraft group on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. On Sunday, April 14, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. a free breakfast of pancakes, sausage, muffins, breakfast casseroles, scrambled eggs, fruit, orange juice and other beverages will be held at the church. No reservations are necessary.
