BRATTLEBORO -- Morning worship on Sunday, May 5, at First Baptist Church begins at 10 a.m. with Sunday School at 10:15 a.m. The historic brick church at 190 Main St. continues its program at the usual time throughout the summer.
In addition to its ongoing local and worldwide mission work, the church cooperates with Church World Service in Maryland. Currently, packs of school materials are being assembled to be sent to refugee camps and other difficult settings for basic learning.
Areas which have been devastated by floods in the Midwest are recipients of kits containing health and hygiene items. Baby care items are sent to Africa and the Mideast where the lack of these materials causes widespread illness and death. Bags to be filled may be picked up at the church and returned there to be sent to Church World Service.
This Sunday’s sermon by Pastor Suzanne Andrews is "Jesus’ Giving Us the Promise of the Holy Spirit." She will also share in song, "Spirit, Spirit of Gentleness."
All are invited to a time of refreshment and fellowship following the service.
