NEWFANE -- The First Congregational Church of Newfane will celebrate a baptism on Sunday, June 23, at 10 a.m. Kennedy Grace Shine, daughter of Sara and Travis Shine, will receive the sacrament of baptism and be welcomed by the congregation by the singing of "Kennedy, We Greet You" to the tune of "Morning is Broken." The Rev. Robert Hamm’s sermon is titled "Because of Whose We Are" with scripture from the book of Galatians, chapter 3, verses 23-29. Congregational hymns are "Let All Things Now Living," "I Love to Tell the Story" and "Lord of All Hopefulness." Helen Ruth Belanger will be welcomed as guest organist and will play "Cavatina" by Reginald Martin for the prelude, "In Remembrance" by Donald Lee Moore for the offertory, and "In Him We Live" by Norman Lester.
Next Sunday, June 30, there will be a community open house hosted by the church in celebration of the new addition. There will be tours from 2 to 4 p.m. with brief remarks at 3 p.m. as well as refreshments in the Fellowship Hall. There is no service on Newfane Hill this year.
