NEWFANE -- The Rev. Robert Hamm will speak on "Superheroes" Sunday, Aug. 18, at the 10 a.m. worship service at the First Congregational Church of Newfane. Scripture reading will be from the book of Hebrews 11:29-12:2.
Special music will be provided by David Roberts who will sing "Wayfaring Stranger," a South American folk song. Martha LaMoria, organist, will play the prelude "Nocturne in G" and the postlude "Recessional," both by William Stickles. Congregational hymns will be "The God of Abraham Praise," "Not With Naked Eye" and "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms."
The new music year will begin in September and new members for both the handbell and vocal choirs are needed. It is not necessary to be a member of the church to participate in either of these choirs. Contact Martha LaMoria, music director, for more information.
Events for the upcoming week include Al-Anon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday; Sew What’s at 5 p.m. on Tuesday; Prayer Quilt Meeting at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
