BRATTLEBORO -- Worship is at 10 a.m. on Sundays at Centre Congregational Church. The Rev. Carra McFadden will lead the service, assisted by organist and choir director Christian Huebner. Michael Mario, director of Christian Education, has announced that the September theme for Kidz Club is "God’s Green Earth," celebrating the wonders of God’s creation.
Edie Clark, author of the newly published book, "What There Was Not to Tell," will offer a book reading and sign copies of her book at Saturday, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m. in the parlor at Centre Congregational Church at 193 Main St. in downtown Brattleboro. The community is invited; front and back entrances will be open.
This is a compelling tale of how a single casualty of war can set off chain reactions of loss, love and loyalty across multiple generations. Clark was Senior Editor of Yankee Magazine at one time and has also written for numerous other magazines. The event is a church fund-raiser.
The Fall Jumble Sale will be held Friday, Sept. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 28, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information contact Laura Slate at 802-254-5887.
Jon Potter, Council chairman, has announced a church retreat on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Hallelujah Farm in Chesterfield, N.H. All are welcome.
Special offerings for September will benefit Brattleboro Area Drop-In Center and Brattleboro Area Affordable Housing.
The church is also exploring what it means to become a Global Mission Church, under the guidance of Virginia Knuebel and Pastor McFadden.
