BELLOWS FALLS -- The United Church of Bellows Falls is partnering with Our Place Drop-in Center in Bellows Falls and with Church World Service in organizing a CROP/Hunger Walk. CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) Walks are the oldest type of sponsored walks in America. One-fourth of all funds raised will benefit Our Place, with three-fourths being distributed around the world to help alleviate hunger and poverty.
The event will be held rain or shine on Sunday, Oct. 20, in Bellows Falls. The walk will begin and end at the United Church on School Street. Walkers will follow a planned 2.3 mile route along village streets. A shorter route will also be available. Registration begins at 1 p.m. at the church and walkers will begin the walk together at 1:30 p.m. Each should bring his/her own water bottle. Participants of all ages are welcome. It is not a race and it does not include bicycles, skateboards, etc.
Pledge forms and additional information are available through the United Church: 802-463-4323 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org. Church World Service can be accessed via its website, which also contains a link to the local walk, www.cwsglobal.org. Online fundraising at cropwalkonline.org.
All forms of participation from walking, to lending a helping hand, to donating money are appreciated.
