WEST BRATTLEBORO -- Oct. 13 is the 21st Sunday after Pentecost at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 880 Western Ave. in West Brattleboro. Pastor Joseph Amico’s sermon, "Making Things More Difficult," based on 2 Kings 5:1-3, 7-15c. Organist and pianist George Soulos will share a prelude of "Bagatelle in G Minor" by Ludwig von Beethoven and a postlude of "Fantasie" by Georg Philipp Telemann. The choir will share an offertory of "Psalm 29." The congregational hymns this week are "All Creatures of Our God and King," "Trust and Obey," and "This is My Song."
The monthly pancake breakfast will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. On the menu will be pancakes, syrup, scrambled eggs, sausage, orange juice and other beverages. This is a free breakfast with no reservations necessary.
Sunday worship at First Congregational is at 10 a.m. Preceded by 9 a.m. choir rehearsal. Following worship there is a coffee hour. For those with disabilities, there is a ramp leading to the Fireplace Room level, as well as large-print hymnals and bulletins. For a ride to worship call 802-257-4408.
